My video work addresses the bombardment of images and information experienced through our relationship with the Internet. I utilize imagery appropriated from web pages, YouTube and social networking sites. The images are layered, fragmented, repeated and distorted into abstraction using final cut pro software.
By taking a closer look at the culture industry existing within the Internet, I intend for the viewer to re-examine their relationship to the images that they encounter. Through digital media, our experience of the image has been reinvented. The bombardment of imagery we experience on a daily basis has increased through our use of the Internet. By bringing this ephemeral imagery into new contexts I hope to open it up to critical examination, allowing a building process that is intended to climax in a visual overload, a questioning of the thresholds bordering desire and disgust.
